when i was in copenhagen a while ago i discovered that nearly all of the bikes over there where equiped with this kind of light that is shown by the pics above ( a friend of mine imported a second hand pair from copenhagen to vienna) – a purely on magnetic tension based light wicht actually doesn’t create any hard friction, just delivers permanently and easy going energy for it’s lights. as in austria we are used to lights powered by dynamo which enoys us by extra effort, i d ... more

Am Wiener Schwedenplatz waren am Sonntag den 14.08. Ampeln einer Kreuzung inaktiv. Die Verkehrsteilnehmer (Fußgänger, Radfahrer, Autofahrer, Strassenbahn, und – im Video nicht zu sehen – Fiaker) haben sich den Verkehr erfolgreich selbst organisiert. Eine offensichtlich erfreuliche Erprobung eines temporären Shard Space an einer nicht unbedeuteten Kreuzung Wiens.
Hier ein Beispiel aus den Niederlanden, die das Konzept Shared Space schon eine Weile lang anwenden.

Im Innenhof unseres Nachbar-Hauses wurde Anfang Winter die an den Fotos ersichtliche Hütte für Fahrräder errichtet. Nicht nur, dass sie nicht gut aussieht, sie ist auch in alle erdenklichen Richtungen unpraktisch (Handling) und ineffizient (Raum-Nutzung). Die Kosten dieser Intervention sind mir nicht bekannt.
Was ich mir nun für unseren eigenen Hof (der in dem Fall unmittelbar rechtsseitig angrenzt), der den gleichen Bedarf an einem solchen “Haus für eine Fahrrad” hat, wünsche ... more

The Austrian foreign policy minister is only in the news once a year or so – a pity. I suppose the world outside Austria is quite exiting. The most recent of the rare times that the Austrian foreign minister raised his voice was to announce the closing of embassies in order to reduce government expenditures. Some weeks ago I met those two inspiring and smart ladies, Zagury Alice & Nirina Thibault from “siliconsentier” who have been touring Europe to visit diverse kind of contemporary working spaces. They did a video for their project YGAW about the METALAB VIENNA (where we actually met) and talked to Tom R. Koll and the HUB VIENNA where i guided them to and where they met Matthias Reisinger from HUB VIENNA.
